Peru is a country in South America. The capital is Lima. The ruins of Machu Picchu, the Andes mountains, and the source of the Amazon River are all found in Peru. Peru is bordered to the north by Ecuador and Colombia, to the east by Brazil, to the south by Chile, and to the southeast by Bolivia. Peru is a representative democratic republic divided into 25 regions and over 30 million people live in it.

Tourists from other countries like to come to Peru because of the history and also to enjoy nature. Many people come to climb mountains in the Cordillera Blanca in the Ancash Region, and many people visit Peru's long Pacific coast or the Amazon jungle. Cuzco and Macchu Picchu are just two of the places where many buildings built by the Incas are still standing after hundreds of years, and these are some of the most visited places. The Incas were not the only tribe in Peru who left buildings and artifacts, but they were the most powerful.

ARRIVE LIMA

On arrival into Lima you will be met at the international airport in Lima and transferred to your hotel. Once you have checked in, the remainder of the day is at your leisure.

Lima was founded by the Spanish Conquistador Francisco Pizarro in 1535, its colonial centre is well preserved. Lima has many places to visit like the Plaza Mayor (Main Square), Cathedral, Government Palace which was the residence of Francisco Pizarro (1535), Parque de la Muralla (Park of the Wall). And some of the best museums in South America including Museum of the Inquisition and the Catacombs below the San Francisco Church, Gold Museum, Rafael Larco Herrera Archaeological Museum.

LIMA

After breakfast you will begin your culinary adventure you will join a small group tour to visit a local market where you will taste and appreciate the local products, then you will visit Chinatown to feel the mixture of the Peruvian and Chinese cultures. You will walk in the Historic Downtown of Lima (Unesco site) to observe its main monuments and architecture. Afterwards you will visit an awarded chef to have the best ceviche in Lima. He will teach you how to do it, then is time for lunch.

After lunch you will visit the best handicraft shops in Barranco, the bohemian district in Lima this includes the visit to a local restaurant to taste the traditional Peruvian dessert picarones made of squash and sweet potatoes. The evening is free at your leisure.

CUSCO

After breakfast, you will be collected from your hotel by your private driver to take you to the airport to take your flight to Cusco city. On your arrival you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel.

In the afternoon you will be picked up from your hotel and join a group your to visit the cathedral built on the ruins of an Inca Palace located in the Plaza de Armas (Main Square). Your next stop will be the complex of Qoricancha which contained the Temple of the Sun, the most sacred site in the Inca religion. Afterwards, you will drive to the nearby ruins of Sacsayhuaman which reveal the Incas extraordinary architecture. Like all Inca constructions, the stones fit together perfectly without mortar and it would be hard to fit a single sheet of paper even between the biggest. It took almost one hundred years and thousands of men to complete.

Next stop is on to a site shrouded in mystery, the large rock and intricate complex of Qenqo. The site is named for the zigzag channels carved into the rock which are believed to have been used by Inca priests to pour sacred chicha or llama blood into as part of an annual ritual usually done when there was a Solstice. Then you will go to Tambomachay known as the “Baños del Inca”. The evening is free at your leisure.

FULL DAY TOUR OF THE SACRED VALLEY / TRAIN TO AGUAS CALIENTES

After breakfast you will be picked from your hotel up and join to a group tour to spend the day in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. First you will visit the archaeological site of Pisaq where you will be able to see the largest Inca cemetery in South America and beautiful landscapes of the Sacred Valley and Pisaq Town. Then you will stop at the typical market in Pisaq where you will be able to buy handicrafts, why not take small gifts for family and friends.

Following your visit to Pisaq you will reach Urubamba Town where you will enjoy an included buffet lunch. It is then time to travel on to the impressive town of Ollantaytambo known as the last living Incas city of the Incas where you can see terraces, the temple of the sun located at the top of the mountain.

Following the tour, you will be transferred to the train station in Ollantaytambo town on time to catch your Inca Rail train to Aguas Calientes or Machu Picchu town. You will be greeted on arrival and taken to your hotel. Evening is at your leisure.

CUSCO

Today you will be collected from your hotel very early to catch one of the first buses that goes up to Machupicchu citadel. Once at Machupicchu you will see the archaeological complex that was only discovered by the outside world in 1911. Located high above the Urubamba River, the cloud shrouded ruins have palaces, baths, temples and some 150 houses, all well preserved. You will have a two and a half hours of a guided tour, then free time for you to explore. After a buffet lunch, take your Inca Rail train back to Ollantaytambo Town where you will be collected on arrival and transferred back to your hotel in Cusco.

BUS FROM CUSCO TO PUNO

This morning you will be taken to the station to board the bus for the scenic drive to Puno. You will take a 10 hour journey ‘The Route of the Sun’, holds. Your first stop will be the Andahuaylillas church, also known as the Sistine Chapel of the Americas thanks to its intricately painted ceilings and other murals, your next stop, the mighty Temple of Wiracocha, the stop for a delicious buffet lunch on the picturesque Sicuani Town before getting to the majestic La Raya pass (road limit between Cusco and Puno, with a beautiful view of the Chimboya Glacier, and the fascinating Lithic Museum of the Pukará culture.

You will arrive in Puno in the early evening and you will then be taken to your hotel. Puno is located on the banks of Lake Titicaca, the world's highest navigable lake and stands at an impressive 3,800 metres above sea level. According to legend, it was on this lake that the Sun.

FULL DAY TOUR OF LAKE TITICACA - UROS & TAQUILE ISLAND

Today you will be picked up from your hotel to join a group and explore two islands on the Lake Titicaca lake. Our first stop will be at the Uros islands. It is believed that the Uros were one of the first ethnic groups populating the Andean region. Only in the early 60, the Uros started to build artificial islands with reeds for their homes.

As reeds disintegrate from the bottom of the islands, which are four to eight feet thick, residents must add more to the surface. Each island has a collect on of simple reed houses but they are not short of modern conveniences such as solar panels and televisions.

Later you will travel on to Taquile, an island untouched by the mainland's modernity. The local inhabitants, known as Taquileños, still wear traditional clothing and are known for their high-quality handicrafts. Upon the arrival on the island, the group will follow a path for about 1 hour. On the way to the village you will enjoy of a cultural demonstration run by the native people of Taquile.

You will return to Puno in the afternoon and the remainder of the day is at your leisure.

PUNO / BACK TO HOME

Sadly your time in Perú has come to the end. You will be transferred to the airport on time to take your flight back home.
